Healing continued
• PR O V E R B S 1 7 :2 2 | A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s
strength.
At times, we need healing from depression and sadness.
How does God heal?
• 2 K I NG S 2 0 :7 | “Make an ointment from figs.” So Hezekiah’s servants spread the ointment
over the boil, and Hezekiah recovered!
He heals through physicians and medicine.
• PSA L M 1 1 9 :9 3 | I will never forget your commandments, for by them you give me life.
• MA R K 3 :5 | Then he said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” So the man held out his hand,
and it was restored!
• L U K E 5 :1 2 -1 3 | “Lord,” he said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.”
Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” (See note on
page 923.)
He heals through miracles.
• MA R K 2 :4 -5 | They couldn’t bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, so they dug a hole
through the roof above his head. . . . Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man,
“My child, your sins are forgiven.”
He heals as the result of the faith of friends.

our punishment, he set us free.
What kind of healing does God do today?
• E X O DU S 1 5 :2 6 | “For I am the Lord who heals you.”
God is not bound by the limitations of this world. He can intervene to overcome any
threat to your life, including illness and disease—physical, mental, spiritual, and
emotional.
• L U K E 5 :1 2 -1 3 | “Lord,” he said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.”
Jesus reached out and touched him. ”I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the
leprosy disappeared.
Jesus has the ability and the willingness to heal you. You are not bothering God when
you pray for healing; you are expressing your faith and trust in him. For reasons unknown,
Jesus doesn’t heal all your illnesses, but he does perform great acts of healing in you
every day—healing you from sin, grief, sickness, and the weariness of your soul.
• PSA L M 1 4 7 :3 | He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.
• MA L A C H I 4 :2 | “But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with
healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture.”
God’s healing can reach every level of your life. His healing brings a joy and freedom that
cannot be contained.
