• PR O VE R B S 2 5 :1 8 | Telling lies about others is as harmful as hitting them with an ax,
wounding them with a sword, or shooting them with a sharp arrow.
Avoid gossiping and gossips. Never lie about others because you are always betraying
someone else when you do. Gossip is a form of lying because it spreads rumors about
someone that might not be true.
• PSA L M 5 5 :2 0 | As for my companion, he betrayed his friends; he broke his promises.
Keep your promises.
• PR O VE R B S 1 9 :2 2 | Loyalty makes a person attractive.
• PR O VE R B S 3 :3 | Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! . . . Write them deep within
your heart.
Practice loyalty and kindness to others. Love, loyalty, and kindness require practice like
anything else. They don’t just come naturally. The more you practice, the better you will
become, and the more you will enjoy watching others benefit from your loving actions.
• MAT T H E W 7 :1 2 | “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you.”
Practice the Golden Rule. You don’t want to be betrayed, so don’t betray others.
• PR O VE R B S 1 7 :1 7 | A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of
need.
• MA L A C H I 2 :1 4 -1 6 | But you have been unfaithful to her, though she remained your faithful
partner, the wife of your marriage vows. Didn’t the Lord make you one with your wife? . . .
So guard your heart; remain loyal to the wife of your youth. “For I hate divorce!” says the
Lord, the God of Israel.
Guard your heart from doing wrong, keep your vows, and remain faithful to your spouse.
Unfaithfulness and disloyalty in marriage is betrayal.

Over several centuries, God inspired a select number of people to write down what he
felt we needed to know about him and how he expects us to live. These writings have
been collected into this book, called the Holy Bible—holy because it contains the sacred
words of almighty God. In a miraculous way, the Bible speaks to each of us. Its truths
apply across generations, across cultures, across all life experiences.
An extensive help manual comes with any complicated device we purchase. Most
of us read just enough to allow us to get up and running, to perform the basic tasks for
which we have acquired it. But if we want to thoroughly understand the device—all it is
capable of—we must read the entire manual. Most of us will never do this, and so we
miss out on all it has to offer. When it comes to reading the Bible, most of us read just

Be true, faithful friends. True friendship says, “No matter what happens around us or
between us, there is no fear, doubt, or hurt that can make me turn my back on you.”
This makes a relationship secure and solid, and the chances of betrayal become slim.
