God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But
even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve
your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”
• A C T S 5 :2 9 | But Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than any
human authority.”
You live out your convictions by keeping God your main focus and not compromising your
conscience.
• NU MB E R S 1 3 :3 0 -3 1 | But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses.
“Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!” But the other
men who had explored the land with him disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They
are stronger than we are!”
• E ST H E R 3 :2 | All the king’s officials would bow down before Haman to show him respect
whenever he passed by, for so the king had commanded. But Mordecai refused to bow
down or show him respect.
You live out your convictions regardless of the pressure others put on you to do
otherwise.
• 1 T H E S S A L O NI A NS 2 :2 | You know how badly we had been treated at Philippi just before
we came to you and how much we suffered there. Yet our God gave us the courage to
declare his Good News to you boldly, in spite of great opposition.

You live out your convictions with courage.
• 2 C O R I NT H I A NS 4 :1 3 | But we continue to preach because we have the same kind of faith
the psalmist had when he said, “I believed in God, so I spoke.”
You live out your convictions while being considerate of others, using discernment
between personal preferences and Christian convictions.
• 1 C O R I NT H I A NS 9 :1 9 -2 3 | Even though I am a free man with no master, I have become a
slave to all people to bring many to Christ. When I was with the Jews, I lived like a Jew to
bring the Jews to Christ. When I was with those who follow the Jewish law, I too lived under
that law. . . . Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save
some. I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings.
You live out your convictions in order to bring others to Christ.
• H O SE A 1 4 :9 | Let those who are wise understand these things. Let those with discernment
listen carefully. The paths of the Lord are true and right, and righteous people live by
walking in them. But in those paths sinners stumble and fall.
You live out your convictions by listening closely to the Lord’s wisdom.
How do my convictions impact my relationships?
• R O MA NS 1 4 :1 -6 | Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them
about what they think is right or wrong. . . . Those who feel free to eat anything must not look
down on those who don’t. And those who don’t eat certain foods must not condemn those
who do, for God has accepted them. . . . Some think one day is more holy than another day,
while others think every day is alike. . . . Those who eat any kind of food do so to honor the
Lord, since they give thanks to God before eating. And those who refuse to eat certain foods
also want to please the Lord and give thanks to God.
Having strong convictions does not mean you can be intolerant of or condemn one
another. All people are made in God’s image. It is not your job to change other people’s
convictions. Trust the Holy Spirit to work in their heart.
What is the difference between stubbornness and conviction?
• I SA I A H 5 0 :7 | Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore,
I have set my face like a stone, determined to do his will.
