Death continued
• R E V E L AT I O N 2 0 :1 5 | And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life
was thrown into the lake of fire.
• R E V E L AT I O N 2 1 :3 | “Look, God’s home is now among his people!”
A Christian who dies will meet God and live with him forever. A person who is not a
Christian will be separated from God forever.
In what way does accepting Christ keep me from dying?
• R O MA NS 8 :1 0 | Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin,
the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.
When we accept Christ, we are given eternal life. This does not prevent the death of our
bodies, but it does assure true life with him in heaven forever and ever. And isn’t that the
life that counts the most?
How do I keep a proper perspective about death? Why am I so afraid of it?
• C O L O S S I A NS 3 :1 -2 | Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on
the realities of heaven. . . . Think about the things of heaven.
• 2 C O R I NT H I A NS 5 :4 | We want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be
swallowed up by life.

Fear of the unknown is natural, and fear of death can be healthy if it draws us to know
more about God. It is helpful to think of death as a beginning, not an end. It is our entrance
into eternal life with God.
• PH I L I P P I A NS 1 :2 1 | For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better.

A fear of death may be an indication of a weak relationship with God. You must be ready
to die (be at peace with yourself) to appreciate life fully.
In life after death, do we keep these bodies or get new ones, or do we have no
bodies at all?
• 1 C O R I NT H I A NS 1 5 :4 2 | Our earthly bodies are planted in the ground when we die, but
they will be raised to live forever. (See note on page 1043.)
Your present body gets sick and will increasingly become a burden to you. It will age and
deteriorate. You really wouldn’t want to live in your present body forever. Think how many
problems you would accumulate in a few thousand years! You will welcome the new body
God gives you when you suddenly realize how much more healthy and amazing it is than
your present one. And you will have a body. The Bible clearly teaches that you will not be
just a spirit floating around.
PROMISES FROM GOD
• J O H N 1 1 :2 5 | “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even
after dying.”
• I SA I A H 2 5 :8 | He will swallow up death forever! The Sovereign Lord will wipe away all
tears.

Making a decision is arriving at a solution that ends uncertainty or that settles a dispute.
It is distinguishing between options, some big, some little, some good, some evil. You
must choose between little things, such as a chocolate or vanilla ice-cream cone, or
between great issues, such as which person should you marry, which job should you
take, which home should you buy? But the most important decision in life is this: “What
