problems, his fieldwork data sheds light on some of
the complex issues surrounding economic globalization, food security and cross-border migration. He
hopes that his ongoing research will inform the design
of public policies that can improve rural households’
resilience to climate change.
James Wilen, Alejandro returned to Mexico to bridge
the gap between the abstractions of academia and the
fields and canals where our food is grown. In so doing, he is dedicated to giving a voice to a segment of
our population that is frequently lost in averages. •
