For inclusive and inspiring leadership during the
COVID-19 pandemic, including efforts to improve
emergency department throughput, avoid overcrowding,
and maintain staff safety; and overseeing numerous
successful interventions, such as post-discharge televisits, the administering of monoclonal antibodies, and
the launching of a virtual urgent care program.

For spearheading numerous quality improvement and
patient safety initiatives for cardiac surgery patients,
initiating a very successful multidisciplinary team
approach to reducing surgical site infections and
prolonged ventilation; and during the first COVID surge
organizing a novel pyramidal nursing strategy to
accommodate the tripling of intensive care patients and
working with providers and pharmacists to relocate IV
pumps outside COVID-19 patient rooms to protect staff
before vaccines were available.

For advancing health equity in cancer treatment among
immigrants and other underserved communities; forging
partnerships and programs to address disparities by
increasing access to cancer prevention, cancer care, and
clinical trials; and leading a team that has raised over
$50 million in funding and helped 228,000 people gain
access to needed services.
