Rainbow Springs Villager - Page 16

16 Rainbow Springs Villager April 2018
I've done so many columns on movies, TV, actors and
actresses, some people believe that I am an expert in the world
of entertainment. I have been approached in supermarkets and
restaurants and people say, "You're the person who does the
movies." and then they'll ask a question like, "Who played the
lead in ‘It Happened One Night?’" or some other old movie.
Even on Tuesday mornings when I go to the ROMEO breakfast I'm quizzed about who
starred in what shows.
Truth be told I am far from an expert. Most of my knowledge comes from the
Internet, and more often than not when my column finally gets printed and I read it a
few weeks after it's been submitted I have a hard time trying to answer the questions.
So, keeping with the entertainment tradition the following is a quiz on 1940s and 1950s
television shows. Question one is for Billy but note there were three stars..
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
Can you name the stars of the shows from the 1940s and 1950s?

1954
The Lone Ranger 1940 to 1949
7. I Remember Mama (AKA Mama)

Toast of the Town 1948 to 1971
8. The Front Page 1949 to 1950
The Life of Riley 1949 to 1950
9. Cavalcade of Stars 1950 to 1952
and 1953 to 1958(two stars)
10. The Aldrich Family 1949 to 1953
Texaco Star Theater 1948 to 1956
he played Henry
Bonus question – He played Rocky King, Detective on TV from 1950
to 1954. At the end of each show, Rocky King calls his wife, Mable, and
says, "Case is closed Mable, I'm coming home" and, after hanging up,
says to no one in particular, "Great girl, that Mabel."
Pun of the month: When the TV repairman got married the reception was
excellent.
Food for thought: On February 20, 1907, Pres. Theodore Roosevelt signed an
immigration act which excluded "idiots, imbeciles, feebleminded persons, epileptics,
insane persons" from being admitted to the United States. I wondered about the "idiots,
imbeciles, feebleminded persons, insane persons" that are born in this country what do
we do with them and then I remembered - we elect them to Congress.
