State of the Community
Roy Goyette
Communications Director
The end of the year is fast approaching and with it comes the inevitable
time for reflection. What happened during the last 12 months. Was it a good or
bad year? What did I (or we in this case do) to make positive improvements
in the community and for all the residents that reside here? Were those things
successful? What could I (we) have done to improve and to be even more
efficient? Should I (we) stay the course or strike out in a new direction?
Many questions and some surprising answers.
Your Citrus Springs Civic Association is a formal organization, strictly
voluntary in membership much unlike Homeowner’s Associations that are
commonplace in the County. The Civic Association is headed up by a small
group of volunteers that are elected by and voted into place by the members
at large. Membership is open to all residents simply by registering and
paying a minuscule $15.00 a year membership fee. The Board of Directors
responsibility is to promote Citrus Springs and its positive growth, to represent
the Community in regard to County issues, to formulate, plan and produce
activities that offer beneficial, social community events and to be the legal
overseers of our Deed Restrictions. This may not sound like a lot, but actually,
it is a huge workload that requires the Board Members (along with the muchappreciated help of volunteers) to work diligently in a lot of roles to create the

desired results.
This past year was an exceptionally good year in Citrus Springs. In late 2016
and really taking off this year, the Board started from scratch, Citrus Springs
Bingo with games twice a month that draw players from all over Citrus and
Marion Counties. Many players come every time to spend the afternoon having
a great deal of fun in a very friendly atmosphere.
The Citrus Springs Board of Directors worked hard on a wide variety of
projects such as replacing the antiquated telephone system with a new modern
digital system that notifies Board members both as a voice message as well as
an email text. This change also is also saving the Association many hundreds of
dollars in fees each year.
New bright and modern logos were designed and implemented along with a
new positive community catchphrase “Your Hometown on the Nature Coast”
Many new, social dinners and other special events were successfully hosted
with more in the planning stages.
A new, modern and informative website was built and is now active for
anyone near and far to view.
All Deed Restrictions have been reviewed, modernized and modified to more
reflect the times. New stronger measures have been designed to more quickly
address violations.
The Board of Directors has one or more members present at all County
