The city has a new plan for the
space where 32 Units were
demolished at the site of the
old Bridgepoint Townhomes.

help with outflow issues, keeping the
water stored while it’s raining, and then
have it gone after a storm.”
Bridgepointe is far from the only
flooding mitigation project for the basin,
as there is one in the works for the
Crosstowne Christian Church site across
Bees Ferry Road.
“It’s a good idea; I’m agreeable,” says
Lew from his new home down the road in
Grand Oaks, adding that he thinks a series
of ponds might be better at absorbing
water after a hurricane, rather than just
one big one.
Shadowmoss resident Michael Duck
was charged by their HOA president to be
the point-man on Bridgepoint. He earlier
organized a meeting about the proposal
that brought residents face-to-face with
Mayor John Tecklenburg, Fountain, City
Councilman Harry Griffin, and others.
Duck worries that the city will ignore
residents’ calls for long fishing docks and
a playground. He also worries that the
city will overbuild the project and bring in
people from outside the neighborhood.
Good news for Duck, as Fountain says
the plan currently calls for a recreation
area where people could throw a football,
a fishing dock, a playground, plenty of
opportunities for recreation activities,
and no parking lot.
