Dumont, Texas
TJ Roberts
(806) 596-4045
Millard Morris purchased the 89,000 acre Tongue River Ranch in 1997
and added the New Mexico Big Baldy Ranch of 30,000 acres in 2007.
The ranch tries to maintain the western way of life. Chuckwagons are
still used and cowboys throw out their bedrolls twice a year. The cattle
are worked just like they were 100 years ago. The ranch manager, TJ
Roberts, and his wife Kristin, have been instrumental in preserving the
ranching heritage. Continuing tradition and preserving history is a way
of life, not a job at Tongue River Ranch.

with proceeds from a sale of horses rounded up around the Albany area.
Today, Henry Green’s children have ranches in Stephens, Shackelford,
Oldham, Hartley and Motley counties, totaling over 150,000 acres. The
Green Ranches run Hereford and Black-Baldy cows, plus yearlings,
as well as a broodmare herd to furnish replacement horses for their
ranching operations.

Welch Cattle Co. is owned by John and Bonnie Welch & their sons Bob,
Andy, and Wesley. The headquarters are located between Trinidad &
La Junta, Colorado, in the southeastern part of the state, and those
ranches are cow/calf operations. Additional lease operations in Texas,
Kansas, Montana, and central Colorado run yearlings with the Montana
and Kansas ranches having cow/calf herds as well. The horse program
consists of buying young cutting bred horses & making them into top
notch ranch horses. They are used on all the locations during their
training & see lots of different country, while doing all the jobs that your
best saddle horse is expected to do.
