YOLO Journal Issue 12 - Flipbook - Page 11
What you’ll find in this volume
is a reflection of how we feel about
wellness. It’s a huge range—we love
how it can be as simple as a coldwater plunge, a road trip seeking wild
swimming spots or hot springs, and as
sophisticated as a clinic that performs
a battery of cutting-edge medical tests
during a week-long visit. And there’s
so much in between: we’re sharing
places that are doing their part to
heal the earth (rewilding in Scotland,
p.48), heal your soul (temazcal in Tulum,
p.18), and heal your gut (fasting in
Opposite: Après spa at the Masseria San Domenico
Überlingen, p. 98). There is something

not everything is going to be your jam!
In all the conversations we’ve had as
we’ve put this issue together—and honestly, in all the experiences we’ve had that have
led us to this point—there is a saying that really resonates, as a takeaway that most if
not all of us can probably use. And it requires no travel, no money and no movement.
I first heard it (perhaps oddly) here in Rome, where I’m often in a rush, and have
been told (by everyone from a taxi driver to a bank teller) quite sweetly, “con calma”—
which literally means calmly, but also, “don’t worry, be calm.” If there’s one simple cure
I might suggest, it’s this. Let’s all try to move through life con calma.
