$650 million approved in Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) funds
Funds are to be divided between S.F., L.A., & S.B. counties and consortiums of
care
S.B. County approved to receive $2,865,000 in grant funding
Continuum of Care (COC) will receive $3,071,059 in grant funding
Cities and non-profits apply for funding through the COC
Pet assistance will receive $5 million for food, basic vet services, and kennels for
homeless individuals with pets
Legislation is going to provide $750 million for elderly care, state property (old
buildings, empty land), and $695 million to increase Medicare/Medicaid
programs for the homeless
Going to purchase 17,000 square foot land, former detention center, to build
center
One-week stay in hospital is approximately same cost as one-year’s rent in apt.

Drug & alcohol counseling will be provided to homeless individuals in respite
care
Individuals will be provided case workers to help them find jobs, IDs, and
permanent housing
Mental health workers, nurses, and physicians will provide care for individuals
