TCFP Annual Report Sept17 - Flipbook - Page 3
Dear Friends
and Supporters,
For more than 70 years, The Center for Pursuit has empowered the growth of
individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), supporting
them as they cultivate their abilities, opportunities, and independence. We are
pleased to present this annual report on The Center’s 2018-2019 fiscal year,
which was a time of extraordinary growth for The Center and those we serve.
A few highlights:
We launched our Strive capital campaign to raise funds for our new home
in the historic East End.
Our programming relocated to a temporary location on Kirby that allowed
us to evaluate and enhance the work we do with our clients.
Our Building a Game Plan for the Future luncheon in May 2019 featuring
Houston Texan quarterback Deshaun Watson was a sold-out event that
was a touchdown for everyone in attendance.
We launched two new programs, Supported Employment and Community
Independent Living, in response to clients’ and their families’ desire for
more community-based work and living opportunities.
We instituted new and innovative Wellness programs that offer an array of
exercise classes, including cycle, yoga, and weights, through our partner,
Bloom Fitness.
We grew our employment opportunities at companies in our Momentum
Center and at the Veterans’ Hospital and engaged nearly 200 people in
viable employment and employment training every day.
We are truly grateful for your generous support, which makes all of this – and
much more – possible. We wish you the best in these challenging times and
look forward to continuing to share the impact of your belief in our work as
The Center continues to grow.
