Experiences, education,
and upbringing shape one’s
character, worldview, and
moral responsibility. We must learn
to counter the threat to democratic
freedoms from racism and ethnic
and other forms of discrimination.
As a child caught up in the events of
World War II through the uprooting
and loss of family members, including
my grandparents, I have come to
appreciate the important work the
United States Holocaust Memorial
Museum is doing. The Museum works
to keep the memories of Holocaust
victims alive; educates the public,
especially the young, about those
events; and shapes their sense of
moral and spiritual responsibility.
Only early intervention can stop the
growth of fascist and white supremacy
movements. My gift, when combined
with those of other Legacy of Light
endowment donors, provides the
critical mass funding to continually
drive the mission of the Museum.”
