I am the child of two
Holocaust survivors.
My father was a
Zechariah the prophet,
whose name means
‘G-d has remembered,’
partisan—living in the
woods, fighting the
Germans. With bombers
overhead, my mother
ran from her home hours
ahead of the invading
German army and spent
three years in the Soviet
Union before returning
to find that 14,000 Jews
of her town, including my
grandfather, had been shot
by Einsatzgruppen. Neither
one of these survival stories
was covered in school
history books when I was
a student. The Museum
plays a vital role providing
teachers and students
with a comprehensive
understanding of the
Holocaust. I support
the Museum in memory
of my parents, Sam and
Bronia Bronkesh.”
might tell us that
throughout the ages the
world has tried to destroy
the Jewish people. But G-d
remembered and redeemed
them. For the past 20 years,
G-d has had the United
States Holocaust Memorial
Museum at His right
hand to not only continue
remembering the Jews, but
all of humanity who suffer
from discrimination, racism,
and ultimately genocide.”
