For the second
consecutive year, the
Valero Alamo Bowl saw
a furious second half
comeback as TCU scored
31 consecutive points in the
second half after a first half
in which the Horned Frogs
were the victim of a 31-0
Oregon onslaught.
JANUARY 2, 2016
The two teams traded
touchdowns in the first
overtime period as Kohlhausen found Emanuel
Porter for a passing TD and Oregon running back
Royce Freeman pounded in his third TD of the game.
Neither team would find the end zone in the second
OT period as both teams traded field goals to extend
the game.
With the element of the extra point eliminated in
the third overtime period, the game took on a new
dynamic. Kohlhausen ran in another score to give
TCU a 47-41 lead, but could not add the two-point
conversion. With their backs against the wall, the
TCU defense came up big on 4th down as they
batted down an Oregon pass to win the game and
finish the comeback.

Oklahoma State’s 38-8
victory in the 2016 Valero
Alamo Bowl was the third
largest margin of victory in
Valero Alamo Bowl history.
This was also the Cowboys’
fourth visit, and second
victory, with the Valero
Alamo Bowl.
Quarterback Mason
Rudolph connected with
receiver James Washington
nine times for 171 yards and a touchdown.
Rudolph finished his noteworthy Valero
Alamo Bowl performance with a 314-yard, three
touchdown-showing against Colorado. Rudolph
was the ninth player to pass for 300 yards and the
seventh to pass for at least three touchdowns in
Bowl history.
Oklahoma State did much of their damage
offensively through the air but the ground game
was still a factor for the Cowboys as they rushed for
189 yards. Cowboys freshman tailback Justice Hill
carried 19 times for 100 yards and a TD, and Chris
Carson ran 11 times for 61 yards and scored once.

No. 14 UCLA withstood
an incredible second half
comeback by No. 11
Kansas State and held
on to win 40-35 in the 2014
Valero Alamo Bowl.
Kansas State was
unable to recover an onside
kick with 1:21 remaining
in the game, and UCLA
kneeled the ball to cool
what was a Wildcat scoring
explosion in the second half.
Kansas State scored 15 unanswered points in
the third quarter to overcome a 31-6 halftime deficit
and cut the lead to 31-21 before the Bruins got a field
goal from Ka’imi Fairbairn to go up 10. Kansas State
executed a 15-play, 91-yard drive capped off by a
one-yard TD run by Jake Waters to cut the lead to
34-28.
UCLA responded quickly with a 67-yard TD
run by Paul Perkins and after a failed two point
conversion, led 40-26. Waters led the Wildcats back
down the field and threw a 29-yard TD pass to Tyler
Lockett, to end the scoring.
