IB School. This is important for VIS’ continued recognition as a leading international school.
This academic year, as part of the preparations, we carried out a detailed self-reflection of the school’s performance against
CIS and IB specific standards, and produced a School Action Plan based on the
resultant findings. The self-study was organised through a network of stakeholder committees within the School, and the
findings of these committees are shared
with the CIS / MSA and IB teams prior to
the synchronised visit.
Professional Development
In 2024–25, VIS held our IB in-cooperation workshops, where we welcome
teachers from across Europe and beyond
to participate alongside teachers from VIS
in high quality, IB recognized professional
development.
Highlights of the Year
We have many events and activities that
we would like to highlight throughout the
past year.
Primary School Electrical Renovation
One of this year’s major accomplishments
was the completion of the primary school
electrical renovation. This comprehensive project included replacing ceilings,
upgrading to adjustable LED-lighting for
improved learning environments, and
re-cabling the building to enhance efficiency. Additionally, we installed new wireless
network points, significantly improving
connectivity and ensuring our infrastructure is ready to support future technological advancements. This investment
strengthens our commitment to providing
a modern, adaptable, and future-focused
learning space for our students and staff.

Grades 2–5 Camps
Camps bring about experiential learning
opportunities for students outside of the
classroom, and are always an invigorating experience. Our Grade 5’s went to
Radstadt for ski week, Grade 4’s went to
Radstadt in the Spring, Grade 3’s went to
Großschönau and Amethyst World, and
Grade 2’s went to Annaberg.
ECO Outdoor Actions
In alignment with our Eco Agenda, we
aim to teach students from a young age
about sustainable food cultivation and
engage them actively in Eco Gardening.
This includes responsibilities such as caring for our compost, planting vegetables,
and understanding the soil ecosystem. To
support this mission, the Outdoor Learning Team, led by Ms. Sigrid Koessler and
Ms. Ainsley Cameron, organized two successful Gardening Days this year. These
events brought together the largest number of family volunteers we’ve ever had,
with parents and children participating in
a hands-on, Saturday morning gardening
experience at VIS. Many students enjoyed
this collaborative learning experience
with their families, inspiring activities
that they can also practice at home or in
local community gardens.
Primary School Green Teams
This year, our Primary School Green Teams
have continued to champion sustainability and environmental awareness through
active participation in various Global Action Days and campaigns. Additionally,
this year we’ve been working toward reaccreditation by the Eco Schools Committee of the Foundation for Environmental
Education. This initiative strengthens our
commitment to eco-conscious practices
and reinforces our role as an active member of the global sustainability movement.
Through these efforts, our students not
only learn about sustainability but also
take meaningful steps to make a positive
environmental impact.
