There were many successful
school events which would
not have been possible
without the Secondary
students’ involvement
and engagement
through Service.”
G9–12 visited a presentation by the UNODC Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims
of Human Trafficking. Students then engaged in advocacy and fundraising for the
human trafficking survivors, culminating
in G9–G11 students giving a pledge to
support survivors during the closing remarks at a side event for the board members of the UNODC VTF VHT during the
Commission on Crime Prevention and
Criminal Justice at the UN. This was a
great privilege, and we were very proud
of our students, especially as the pledge
is now part of the promotional material
used by the Trust Fund.
Secondary students consistently build
connections between the MYP and DP
programmes and various service opportunities, both locally and globally. By linking curriculum content with real-world
events, students strengthen their sense
of agency, developing essential advocacy
and fundraising skills for various humanitarian causes, such as those supplying aid
in disaster zones.
We look forward to more great service initiatives with our students in the current
school year.
