Parent Teacher Association
The Vienna International School Parent
Teacher Association is a voluntary association open to all parents/guardians and
professional staff of VIS.
Its main objectives are to:
● Foster a partnership between the families and the school, acting as a bridge
between parents and teachers, and
providing a forum for open communication and cooperation.
● Provide volunteer services to support
the school’s activities and the school
community, including but not limited
to fundraising activities.
● Enhance the community spirit by
organizing events like family bingo,
workshops, and cultural celebrations
to create a sense of community among
families and staff.
● Support new parents by providing information and guidance on VIS and
Vienna, as well as by offering opportunities for social interaction with other
members of the school community.
In the year 2024–25 the PTA welcomed a
new executive committee, elected at the
Annual General Meeting in November
2024. The new team has embraced their
roles with enthusiasm, bringing fresh perspectives and new ideas.
In recognition of the need to better support school programs and student-led
projects, this school year the PTA established a Grants Subcommittee. This initiative aims to make it easier to access
PTA grants and establish consistent review criteria for PTA grants:
1. Improve the VIS community, promote
health and well-being, support students
to become active and responsible global
citizens.
2. The sum of PTA grants benefit VIS students equitably.
3. PTA Grants should not support initiatives that ought to be covered by other
budgets.
Examples of PTA Grant requests:
● A prize for a competition (debate,
chess, charity run, etc.).
● Food, drinks, decorations, etc. sponsored for an event.
● Supporting a field trip that covers topics adjacent to the core curriculum.
● Items or experiences that promote
well-being (e.g. a kitchen garden).
Throughout the past year, the PTA organized or supported a series of events
aimed at enriching the school community
and raising funds for school initiatives.
Highlights include:
● Welcome Back BBQ
● Laternenfest
● New Family Welcome Coffees
● Winter Market
● Staff Appreciation Week
● Family Bingo
● Grade 12 Ball
● Summer Bazaar
