Annual Report 2024 – 2025
Director’s Greetings
Dear members of the VIS community,
Welcome to the Vienna International School Annual Report 2024–25! This publication provides an opportunity to highlight some of our student and staff accomplishments and share a snapshot of the current status of our wonderful school. It has
been heartening to see the buzz of learning and the enthusiastic participation of our
diverse population of students, staff and families in so many school and extracurricular activities.
One of the key objectives of our school is to strive for continuous improvement in
instruction and student learning, while sustaining the joy of inquiry and creativity,
working collaboratively and expanding the sense of global citizenship and inclusivity. As evidenced in the pages of this Annual Report, the IB Diploma results for the
Class of 2024 are excellent, and we look forward to more of the same or even better
for the Class of 2025 and beyond. The results of the Measures of Academic Progress
(MAP), which was administered school-wide for the first time in September 2024,
indicate strong results in literacy and numeracy in all grades 3–10, reflecting the
robust development our students’ essential academic skills throughout the Primary
and Secondary grades.
This school year the VIS academic community is engaged in a comprehensive selfstudy process in preparation for the evaluation visit in November 2025 by the school’s
accrediting agencies Council of International Schools (CIS), Middle States Association
(MSA) and the International Baccalaureate (IB). This reflective process helps to identify strengths and areas for continued improvement and ensures that all facets of the
school’s operations are aligned with the VIS mission to empower all of our students
to be successful and responsible in a nurturing and diverse learning community, so
that they can achieve their potential in a changing world as inquiring, inspired, and
involved lifelong learners.
I invite you to review the reports from the many school activities that are highlighted
in the pages of this Annual Report and thank you for your continued support of and
trust in the Vienna International School.
Most sincerely,
John Zuman
Director/CEO
