Its sandy beach backed by dunes and paths
through rambling marrams grass makes it
hugely popular with dog walkers and families –
as well as its all-round well-earned reputation
for being especially canine-friendly.
Sandwiched between the sea and the Norfolk
Broads, it is a beautifully unspoilt village with
traditional brick and 昀氀int cottages, quirky little
shops, tearooms and a 300-year-old pub,
Fishermans Return.
Winterton Dunes is a designated site of
special scienti昀椀c interest and a National
Nature Reserve of 109 hectares, which is
home to rare 昀氀ora and fauna, including rare
little terns that nest on the beach.
Seals popping up their heads in the sea or
venturing on to the beach are familiar sights
in the summer. In the winter breeding season,
you can view seals and their pups from afar.
