Meet Our Nursing Leaders!
Kelly Holden, BSN, RNC-NIC
is the Nurse Manager of the Pediatric
Units & NICU on Women’s and Children’s
at Wentworth-Douglass. Kelly has been
a nurse for the last 17 years, 15 years in
the NICU specifically. Kelly has always had a passion
for leadership. She has previous experience in both
leadership and education within the field. Kelly is excited
to be a part of the team and is looking forward to being a
part of the growth of the Pediatric unit and NICU. Kelly
enjoys spending time at home with her 2 children and 2
dogs.
Carrie Coffin, BSN, RN
is the Nurse Manager for 3 South. Carrie
began her nursing career at WentworthDouglass Hospital on 2 South in 2009
after graduating from Saint Joseph’s
College of Maine with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
After a year of nursing experience, she took on new
responsibilities that included the role of the resource
nurse, preceptor of new hires and new graduate nurses,
and co-chair of 2 South’s Unit Based Council. In 2013
Carrie transitioned into the role of a telemetry nurse and
was the schedule facilitator for 3 West and 4 Garrison.
Continuing her professional development at WentworthDouglass, Carrie took the nursing supervisor role in
2015 and was promoted to nursing supervisor lead in
2018. In the nursing supervisor lead position, she was
responsible for the oversight and management of the
LNA float pool team, participated in the Partners 2.0
patient observer tiger team and process owner for the
patient sitter OE project. She is a recipient of the Helen
Grant Nursing Scholarship in 2019 and 2020 as she works
towards obtaining a Master of Science in Nursing degree
from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, with a focus in
healthcare administration and leadership.
Kayla Fitzgerald, MSN, RN, CCRN
is the Executive Director of Critical Care
Service. Kayla started as a New Graduate
RN in the Concord Hospital ICU where
she progressively learned to manage
medical, surgical and cardiac surgery intensive care
patients. She also worked part-time in the home care
setting, which provided her with an entirely different
perspective on the continuum of nursing care. After
working as a bedside nurse, preceptor and Charge RN,
Kayla recognized her passion for nursing leadership. She
enrolled in a Master’s of Nursing Leadership program
and obtained her first management position at St. Joseph
Hospital in the ICU. In pursuit of continued professional
advancement, she transitioned to Lahey Hospital and
Medical Center and then back to NH at Catholic Medical
Center as a Director of Critical Care. In her leadership
roles, she has had the privilege of working with, learning
from, and overseeing various departments, which include
IV Therapy, Rapid Response Teams, ICUs, PCU/IMCUs,
and Dialysis. Kayla’s family relocated to Barrington, NH
last year and she was thrilled to learn of the Executive
Director of Critical Care position at WDH!
Nicole Pendenza, BSN, RNC-NIC
is the new Assistant Vice President of
the Women’s and Children’s Service
Line. Nicole has been a nurse leader in
Women’s and Children’s for over 20 years.
She started her career at a Boston hospital in Labor and
Delivery and NICU. Nicole had the amazing opportunity
to open a new NICU at a hospital in New Hampshire. She
led this team to create and grow a unique family center
model of maternal/NICU care. Nicole was selected as
an Emerging Leader of Association of Women’s Health,
Obstetric and Neonatal Nursing (AWHONN) in 2013. She
is an active member and Secretary/Treasurer of the New
Hampshire chapter of AWHONN. Nicole is a passionate
advocate for compassionate and equitable women’s/
children’s health care. She enjoys growing a team and
programs to benefit the system and the community.
Nicole enjoys spending time with her husband of 25
years and their 2 sons (and their puppy Milo).
