Celebrating Excellence
in Patient Care!
On September 16, 2021, Jeanette Ives Ericson, RN,
DNP, NEA-BC, FAAN, President of the Commission on
Magnet® called to announce that Wentworth-Douglass
successfully met all requirements to redesignate as a
Magnet organization!
The call came just 2 months after a virtual site visit by
three expert appraisers. To achieve this recognition,
organizations must:
1.
Pass a comprehensive review of written
documents
2.
Demonstrate outperformance of national
benchmarks in nurse-sensitive indicators,
patient satisfaction, and nurse satisfaction
3.
Validate the culture of exceptional patient
care described in our written documents
during a site visit
As of this publication, there are only 576 Magnet
facilities in the entire world, and we are proud to join
this elite group! Wentworth-Douglass received its initial
designation in 2016 and will remain fully designated until
2025 when the review process will be repeated.
The ANCC noted exemplary performance in the following areas:
• Significantly improved outcomes resulting from
the Neonatal Resuscitation Program developed by an
interprofessional team on Women & Children’s
• Patient outcomes better than the national average for:
– Hospital Acquired Pressure Ulcers on all units
– Central Line-Associated Blood Stream Infections on all units
– Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections on all units
– Patient Burns in all ambulatory areas
– Procedural Errors in all ambulatory areas
– Patient satisfaction with Courtesy & Respect on all units
– Patient satisfaction with Careful Listening on all units
