ON BIBLE TRANSLATION
FALL
2024
A Time of Rejoicing
All around the world, people are
encountering Jesus in the languages
and formats they understand. And
when Jesus speaks your language, you
can’t help but walk away changed!
Every time a community receives
Scripture — whether a few chapters,
a New Testament or a full Bible — it’s a
time to celebrate. That’s because
Scripture is foundational to a healthy,
thriving Church. It equips us for
evangelism, discipleship, church
planting and more. When people
experience it for the first time in their
language, they see that God knows
them and values who they are,
including their culture and the unique
ways they reflect His character and
creativity to the world around them.
We invite you to join us in celebrating
with communities all around the world
who are now able to engage with
God’s Word personally. Please pray
with us for hearts to be captured and
lives transformed — for His glory and
the good of all His people.
More than 740 languages — out of
the 7,000+ known languages spoken
or signed around the world — have
the full Bible. Praise God that the Tira
language, spoken in a country in
northern Africa, is one of them! Last
November, a special ceremony was
held to celebrate the publication of the
Bible in Tira.
Men, women and children from the
community gathered together to
praise God for this wonderful blessing.
Visitors from neighboring people
groups also attended, as church
leaders and local officials affirmed.
Staff members and others involved in
the translation project worked hard to
get the space set up for the event. This
included unloading and unpacking
more than 300 boxes filled with blue
hardcover Bibles.
Once the ceremony began, church
leaders prayed over the Scriptures and
encouraged people to read them. One
minister made the point that the books
should “not be stored on the shelves.”
In addition, a local archbishop
delivered a powerful message entitled:
“The Importance of the Holy Bible.”
Already, his premise is proving true
among his language community —
translated Scripture is making an
impact! Over the course of the
translation project, as portions of
God’s Word became available,
countless people developed a better
understanding of the gospel message.
And, with his knowledge, many have
committed their lives to
following Christ.
