CLASSICAL SERIES: SCHUBERT’S “UNFINISHED”
Tenor Alexander Scheuermann has been called
“a performer’s performer” and is praised for
his sweet tone and nuanced stagecraft. An
affinity for wide-ranging repertoire has made
him a sought-after performer across the
United States and in Europe, and he has equal
passion for new works as for those of earlier
epochs.
Recent seasons have seen Alexander at the
Central City, Saratoga, Kentucky and Pensacola
Operas, as well as Opera in the Heights, HGOco,
Ars Lyrica Houston, and at the Moore’s Opera
House in roles such as Nemorino in L’elisir
d’amore, Tybalt in Roméo et Juliette, Laurie
in Little Women, and Younger Thompson in
Glory Denied. Other roles include Arcadio in
Florencia en el Amazonas, Siegfried in Das Barbecü, Le Jeu in Les Plaisir
de Versailles, and The Barber in Man of La Mancha.
On the concert stage, Alexander has performed with ensembles including
Bachfest Leipzig, the Festival Musicale Itinerante, the Houston Camerata,
the Victoria Bach Festival, the Kingwood Chorale, and the Pensacola
Chorale in Rossini’s Stabat Mater, Petite Messe Solenelle and Il barbiere di
Siviglia, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Bach’s Magnificat in D and Stradella’s
San Giovanni Battista.
Upcoming performances include Felix in the workshop of the Arizona
Opera’s newly commissioned work, Frankenstein, Fenton in Falstaff with
Raylynmor Opera, Polinesso in the world premiere of Being Ariodante
with Ensemble Échappé (NYC), and Remendado in Carmen with Salt
Marsh Opera. Alexander will also sing Polinesso in the world premiere of
Being Ariodante with Ensemble Échappé (NYC) and he covers the role of
Timothy in Fellow Travelers at Des Moines Metro Opera in summer 2021.
His Carnegie Hall debut will be in 2022 in Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, and he
joins the York Symphony Orchestra as the tenor soloist in Mendelssohn’s
Lobegesang.
A native of Florida, Alexander holds a bachelor’s degree in voice from
Florida State University and a master's degree in voice from the University
of Houston.
