Day 1
Loch Lomond - Laudale House (138 miles)
22 June 2021
Welcome to part two of our very own Quadrifoglio. A high performance rally wrapped in a fun size
package. For this iteration we have ventured north of the border, to the magnificent West Coast of
Scotland, where the landscapes rival any in the world and the sense of remoteness can, at times, make
it seem as if you’re driving through middle earth.

There’s also a neat symmetry in play today as we strike out
from Loch Lomond, the largest freshwater “lake” in Great
Britain, to Laudale House on the banks of the longest sea
loch in the Highlands. In between these two aquatic giants,
lie all manner of challenges as devised by Mark Appleton
and his local assistant, the inestimable Andy Jardine.
As the cars assembled in the village of Luss (hailed as
Scotland’s loveliest village), a great atmosphere grew in
the car park of the Loch Lomond Arms where, once again
the weather was being kind to us. Scrutineering was the
first obstacle for the crews and, whilst Jack Amies and
Bob Hargreaves checked for safety and compliance, it was
left to Andy Inskip to help Peter and Zoe Lovett find their
‘temporarily’ misplaced car keys. With a choice selection of
hooks and bent metal though, Andy managed to wheedle
the door of the Porsche open and ‘jury’ rig a starter
mechanism. Thankfully, and maybe just in the nick of time,
the wayward keys turned up - in yesterday’s trousers.
...and they’re off - Brian and
