were designated as the emergency services, in case anyone
suffered a hard landing. In the event all that was hurt was
a little bit of pride, when ambition got the better of talent
and hope was trumped by a dose of bitter experience.
The journey to the northern tip of Skye gave any such
injuries plenty of time to heal. By the time the crews were
running along the final Regularity towards the day’s end and
the MTC under the impressive Quiraing rock formations,
most could be said to have completely recovered.
Eilean Donan castle
The night halt in Portree was a mere 20 miles south of us
now and the run along the Sound of Raasay, past the Old
man of Storr with views over to the Cuillin Ridge, was as
impressive as anything else we’d seen and neatly finished
a truly epic day.
